Hi, I went to Australia a few years ago on a working holiday visa and want to come back. Can I apply for a second working holiday visa?

Hi Steve, thanks for joining OzGuide and for your question.
Basically there are 2 options available to you and your employer. The first option is that you can essentially renew your 457. This option is normally preferred by many employers.
However most 457 visa holders want to move to a permanent residency visa. The 186 or The Temporary Residence Transition stream visa, lets you do this.
The 186 visa allows those who hold a 457 visa and have worked for the same company in the same role for the last 2 years, to move to a permanent visa.
Your employer will need to nominate you and will need to prove that they have been meeting their obligations for training outlined in their 457 sponsorship.
Please remember that you must have worked in the same role for at least 2 years. So if you were promoted to another role and a new 457 was issued then the 2 year clock restarts from your new 457.
You should contact OzGuide or a migration agent well in advance to ensure that your employer has all the evidence to make it easier for you to gain your 186 permanent visa.

I’m coming up on the end of my 457 visa. I’d like to stay in Australia but am not sure what my options are. Any ideas? Who should I talk to?
