Adelaide is a great place to live. Whilst it trails in as the 5th largest city in Australia – this means the city has some lifestyle advantages for those who don’t like traffic snarls and the dark side of large cities. Adelaide is Pleasantville.

Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia and the fifth-largest city in Australia. At the time of the 2011 census, Adelaide had a population of 1.23 milhões. Travel north out of Adelaide to the Barossa Valley’s rolling green hills and 60 cellar doors. Visit world-famous wineries such as Yalumba, Seppelts, Penfolds and Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre and sample quality, local produce on the Butcher, Baker, Winemaker Trail. Take a wine master class and see artisans at work in one of the many studios. In the nearby heritage town of Gawler, you’ll find stone churches, galleries and museums as well as manicured vineyards. Taste strudel from Lyndoch’s German bakery, visit the Barossa Wine Centre in Tanunda and explore Kapunda, South Australia’s first copper-mining town.

Flinders ranges

Take in breathtaking mountain views as you travel through Blinman, South Australia’s highest town, and past Vulkathunha–Gammon Ranges National Park. You can pitch a tent or sleep in a rustic outback lodge and explore attractions such as Bunyip Chasm and Italowie and Weetootla gorges. Further north is the remote and rugged Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, where you can bushwalk, mountain bike, tour by camel or take a scenic flight. Take a Ridgetop tour across the hilltops, see the shimmering saltpan of Lake Frome and stare into space from one of the three observatories.

McLaren Vale

Head to the 60-plus wineries, almond orchards and galleries of the McLaren Vale wine region on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Go fishing from the jetty or bushwalking through nearby Deep Creek Conservation Park. You can also extend your trip with a four day hike along the Heysen Trail to Victor Harbor.

Take in the spectacular coastline of the Fleurieu Peninsula on the 45-minute ferry ride to Kangaroo Island. You’ll arrive in Penneshaw, where in the evening you can watch packs and pairs of little penguins make their pilgrimage to the shore. From nearby American Beach, you can dive through shipwrecks and with leafy sea dragons. Then head to Kingscote and feed pink pelicans at Beares Point. Fish from the historic jetty at Emu Bay then swim in the rock pool alongside koalas and lorikeets at Stokes Bay. As you circuit the island further west, you’ll find windswept and remote Cape Borda. Watch canons being fired and read the diaries of disgruntled lighthouse keepers from the last century on a lighthouse tour. Continue south to the Remarkable Rocks in Flinders Chase National Park and the magical underground caves of Kelly Hill. Back on the coast, you can swim and surf from the beaches of Vivonne Bay and meet the friendly seal lions on the beach at Seal Bay. Head back to Penneshaw, stopping to pick up some fresh Ligurian honey from Cifford’s Honey Farm on the way.

Barely 30 minutes from Adelaide’s city centre and 45 minutes from the airport, experience a change of pace in the Adelaide Hills. It stretches from the Barossa Valley in the north, to Kuitpo Forest in the south.

he fertile soil of the Barossa is home to some of the world’s most lauded vineyards but wine isn’t all that tastes great in the Barossa.

South Australia is part of Australia that should not be ignored – especially for those looking to re-locate permanently. The weather is mild, the summers long and there is plenty of outdoor treats and adventures to be had close to the city of Adelaide. It is most noted for the Barossa Valley (wine, vineyards and restaurants) as well as empty white beaches. Beach lovers

The city beaches of Adelaide (Henley, Glenelg are easily accessible with warm waters that are very safe for swimming.

For the more adventurous, Victor Harbour and Kangaroo Island offer white sand and rugged coastline with cooler waters for surfers and fishermen.

The Barossa valley north of Adelaide was settled by German migrants in the 1850s who bought who set about planting vineyards and making wine. Some of these small towns were German speaking even throughout the 20^th century. The nearby Clare valley offers excellent shiraz while the coastal Mclaren Vale has spectacular scenery.

Capital city Adelaide

Voted Australia’s most ‘liveable’ city, there are direct flights to Adelaide from major Asian airports and all Australian capital cities. Interstate coaches and trains also service Adelaide, including The Ghan transcontinental train which takes you from the south to the north of Australia. The Ghan passes through the red centre, via Alice Springs and onto tropical Darwin in the Northern Territory.

Indulge in some retail therapy while in Adelaide, a cosmopolitan city which is surrounded by parklands. Stroll along the North Terrace boulevard and visit the many art galleries and museums. Visit giant pandas Wang Wang and Funi at the Adelaide Zoo.

Adelaide has a brand new airport, 3 good universities, new hospitals and good schools.

Explore more than 700 restaurants, cafés and pubs, serving food from around the world. The Adelaide Hills and metropolitan beaches are just 20 minutes drive from Adelaide City and are also hubs of great cafés and restaurants.
