University of Tasmania, is a public Australian university based in Tasmania, 澳大利亚. Officially founded on 1 1 月 1889, it was the fourth university to be established in Australia. UTAS is a sandstone university and is a member of the international Association of Commonwealth Universities.

The city also supports many other industries, shipbuilding, including high-speed catamaran factories such as the world renowned Incat and ore refinement zinc smelters operated by Nyrstar, large breweries such as Cascade manufactures many different beers exported nationally with its premium and boutique beers being found in Europe, as well as smaller breweries around the city. Tourists also come to visit the massive weekly market in Salamanca Place, as well as to use the city as a base from which to explore the rest of Tasmania.

The last 15–20 years has also seen Hobart’s wine industry thrive as many vineyards have developed in countryside areas outside of the city in the Coal River Wine Region and D’Entrecasteaux Channel, including Moorilla Estate at Berriedale one of the most awarded vineyards in Australia.

The Port is a central focus for the City providing both a busy commercial hub and also a place where residents and visitors like to spend time strolling along the docks talking with the local fishermen, watching the large cargo vessels load and unload or sampling some fine Tasmanian produce at one of the many cafes and restaurants located around the cove.

Tasmania is promoted as the natural state, 和 A World Apart, Not A World Away owing to its large and relatively unspoiled natural environment. Almost 45% of Tasmania lies in reserves, national parks and World Heritage Sites. The island is 364 kilometers (226 mi) long from its northernmost to its southernmost points, 和 306 kilometers (190 mi) from west to east.

The state capital and largest city is Hobart, which encompasses the local government areas of City of Hobart, City of Glenorchy, and City of Clarence, while the satellite town of Kingston (part of the Municipality of Kingborough) is generally included in the Greater Hobart area.

The northernmost terrestrial point of the state of Tasmania is Boundary Islet, a nature reserve in Bass Strait which, due to a quirk of history, is shared with the state of Victoria.

The subantarctic Macquarie Island and its surrounding islands are also under the administration of Tasmania as a nature reserve and part of the Huon Valley Council local government area. The Bishop and Clerk Islets, about 37 km south of Macquarie Island, are the southernmost terrestrial point of the state of Tasmania, and the southernmost internationally recognised land in Australia.
