Curtin University, is a public university based in Perth, Austrália Ocidental, named after the 14th Prime Minister of Australia, John Curtin. It is the largest university in Western Australia, with over 40,000 alunos (as of 2012). It has campuses in Sydney, Cingapura, and Sarawak. Being a leading global institution, it has forged close ties with 90 exchange universities in more than 20 países. The University comprises five main faculties with over 95 specialists centres.
Curtin’s Chemical Engineering program ranks amongst the best 100 in the world in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings in 2011. Curtin’s Graduate School of Business’s MBA programmes, which are accredited by the London-based Association of MBAs (AMBA), were ranked 58th out of 113 amongst renowned business schools worldwide by the Economist magazine.
Curtin has become increasingly active in research and partnerships overseas, particularly in mainland China. It is involved in a number of business, management, and research projects, particularly in supercomputing, where the university participates in a tri-continental array with nodes in Perth, Beijing, and Edinburgh.
Edith Cowan University, is situated in Perth, with approximately 20,000 students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, aproximadamente 4000 of whom are international students originating from over 90 countries outside Australia. The university offers more than 400 courses across two metropolitan campuses, in Mount Lawley and Joondalup, and a regional campus in the South West, Bunbury, 200 km south of Perth;[6] with some courses also offered for study off-campus (Distance Education).[7]Additionally, the university has partnerships with several education institutions to conduct courses and programs offshore.
Murdoch University, located in Perth, is a research intensive institution and a member of Innovative Research Universities Australia (IRU Australia). Murdoch University is home to over 18,500 students including 3,000 international students from over 100 países. The University partners with other educational institutions, such as KDU University College in Malaysia, to provide university degrees to off-shore students. It has an international offshore campus in Singapore. It is known as Murdoch University International Study Centre Singapore.
University of Notre Dame Australia, is a private Roman Catholic university established in 1989 in the Western Australian port city of Fremantle. Although it is a private university, Notre Dame receives significant government funding. While The University of Notre Dame Australia has “strong collegial links” with the American University of Notre Dame located in Notre Dame, Indiana, they are separate institutions.The University has campuses in Fremantle, Austrália Ocidental, Broome, Western Australia and in two locations in Sydney, Nova Gales do Sul. The Fremantle and Broome campuses form Western Australia’s smallest university, with just over 7000 students enrolled in 2008.
University of Western Australia, is the oldest university in the state of Western Australia and the only university in the state to be a member of the Group of Eight, as well as the sandstone universities. One of Australia’s best and most prestigious universities, UWA is highly ranked internationally in various publications; o 2011 QS World University Rankings] placed UWA at 79th internationally. To date, UWA has produced 99 Rhodes Scholars and a Nobel Prize winner. ]UWA recently joined the Matariki Network of Universities as the youngest member, the only one established during the 20th century.
UWA’s student body is generally dominated by school-leavers from within Western Australia, mostly from the Perth metropolitan area. There are comparatively smaller numbers of older students. In recent years, numbers of full-fee paying foreign students, predominantly from Southeast Asia, have grown as a proportion of the student population. Em 2008, the University had 3,958 international students, part of a total student body of over 19,000.
UWA has formal agreements with 44 international institutions, promoting staff and student exchanges, collaborative research and exchange of teaching materials and methods. The University also teaches several of its programmes offshore, em Cingapura, Indonesia and the Philippines. Trans-national programmes facilitate the development of UWA as a genuinely international university.
